Leisure activities in the Zillertal that you should not miss

The Zillertal offers a wide range of leisure activities for young and old. From sports activities such as hiking, mountain biking and skiing to cozy experiences such as a visit to a thermal spa or simply relaxing in the fresh mountain air - there is something for every taste in the Zillertal.

Here we would like to introduce you to the most popular leisure activities in more detail. We are also happy to provide you with on-site tips.

Skiing & Snowboarding in the Zillertal

The Zillertal is a true paradise for all winter lovers who enjoy skiing and snowboarding. The Hochfügen ski area is only a 20-minute drive from our apartment. The Kaltenbach ski area is also easily accessible in just 10 minutes and offers a variety of slopes and fun parks. Both ski areas offer slopes for every level.

The ski bus regularly stops right in front of the door to take you and your equipment safely to the surrounding ski areas.

If you don't have the necessary equipment, this is not a problem. Numerous rental stations for ski and snowboard equipment can be found throughout the valley. There are also numerous ski schools for both children and adults who are not yet confident on skis.

After an exciting day on the slopes, you can dry and safely store your belongings in our ski room. Each apartment includes a lockable ski boot dryer so that you can enjoy another comfortable and dry ski/snowboard day the next day.

Spieljoch "Adventure Mountain"

The Spieljoch "Adventure Mountain" in the Zillertal may not be the largest ski area, but with its 21 perfectly groomed kilometers of slopes, 10 lifts, and the longest artificial snow-covered valley descent in the Zillertal, it offers an unforgettable experience for all winter sports enthusiasts. A snow park with slopes and a fun park provides variety and action for freestylers.

Ski Area "Hochfügen Zillertal"

The ski area Hochfügen in the Zillertal offers a total of 93 kilometers of slopes ranging from blue (easy) to black (difficult). In addition, the ski area has modern ski lift facilities that provide a comfortable and fast ascent. Numerous restaurants and huts invite you to stay and refresh yourself.

Ski area Kaltenbach - Hochzillertal

The Hochzillertal ski area in Kaltenbach in the Zillertal offers a total of 90 kilometers of slopes that extend to an altitude of around 2,400 meters. Both beginners and professionals get their money's worth here - there are slopes suitable for every level, from blue (easy) to black (difficult).

There are over 39 modern ski lifts that provide a comfortable and fast ascent. There are also huts where you can stop for a break and refreshment. For freestyle fans, there is also the "Betterpark" which attracts with halfpipes and other attractions.

Sledding in Uderns & surroundings

Sledding is always fun for young and old. Whether alone, in pairs or in a group, you will definitely not get bored on the toboggan run. There are numerous toboggan runs in the Zillertal. Some well-known places are:

  • The toboggan run on the Spieljoch in Fügen
  • The toboggan run in Fügen at the Goglhof (also in the evening)
  • The toboggan run in Hochfügen
  • The toboggan run on the Kupfnerberg in Uderns
  • The toboggan run on the Gerlosstein in Gerlos (also in the evening)

Of course, there are many other toboggan runs. Please check beforehand for snow conditions and whether the toboggan runs are open. We are also happy to help you on site.

Hiking in the front Zillertal

The front Zillertal offers numerous opportunities to explore the mountain world on a leisurely hike. Around 1400 km of hiking trails are available for exploration. Along the hiking trails, there are many snack stations, alpine pastures, and inns that offer regional specialties. There is also plenty to offer for the little hikers of tomorrow. It is worth visiting the water park at the Spieljoch with the family.

From June to October, there are also weekly guided hikes and themed trails organized by the tourist association with professional hiking guides.

On the website of the tourist association "Fügen-Kaltenbach", you will find an interactive hiking map, various routes, and further information.

Cycling & Mountain Biking

In the front holiday region of the Zillertal, there is a wide range of mountain bike and bike routes. There are easy and family-friendly routes such as the Zillertal cycle path, along the Ziller River, and for experienced bikers, there are single trails and downhill routes.

Some routes lead up to 2,400 meters and offer great views of the Zillertal Alps. There is also the possibility to transport bicycles with the Zillertal railway. On the tourist association's website, you will also find an interactive cycling map for downloading and printing to plan your bike tours in advance.

Zillertal Golf Course

The golf course in Uderns is the perfect place for golf enthusiasts of all levels. The 18-hole championship course offers challenges for experienced golfers, and the generously designed practice area with covered tees, short game area, chipping and putting area, as well as the PGA Golf School is ideal for beginners and advanced players. Not only the diverse range of offers but also the beautiful landscape and surroundings give the golf course a distinctive charm.

The golf course is only a 5-minute drive from our apartment, making it the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing day on the green.

Thermal spa Fügen

The Zillertal Adventure Spa in Fügen is the perfect place to relax and unwind after an eventful day. Only 2 minutes by car from our apartment, the thermal spa offers a variety of relaxation and entertainment options. With its 1,000m², the adventure spa offers indoor and outdoor pools, a wave pool, bubble and massage loungers, and other water attractions.

For sauna lovers, there are eight different sauna and steam cabins. For even more relaxation, the spa also offers massages.
